This file gives you specific instructions on how to import text files exported from several contact manager products:
• Aldus DateBook Pro
• Aldus TouchBase Pro
• Now Up-to-Date
• Now Contact
• Pastel DayMaker 3.0
• Symantec ACT!
These maps were designed to import contact and activity information. If you have records for companies, without any contacts then you will need to import twice - once for contact information and a second time for companies only. You should refer to the manual for instructions on this procedure.
Disclaimer: These maps are based on the sample data files that ship with the respective products. If you have modified the field definitions for one of these programs, then the provided import maps will need to be modified to meet your needs. In other words, you will need to review the field matches before you import. Please refer to Chapter 15 of the User's Guide for further explanation about importing or contact FIT Software technical support at (408) 562-5990.
**TIP: MAKE A COPY OF YOUR DATA FILE BEFORE IMPORTING**
If you already have some information in your Full Contact database file, copy the file before you import text from another program. If the information imports incorrectly, you can simply get rid of the copied file and try again. Otherwise, you will be forced to remove the mixed up data manually, which can be very time-consuming.
3-Select all fields to be exported in the same order as they are presented in DateBook Pro's export list.
4-Export the file.
Importing into Full Contact
1-Open Full Contact.
2-Select import by clicking on the Import icon on the tool bar or selecting Import from the File Menu.
3-Select the file to import. Choose the file you exported above. You will see the first record of your export file.
4-Click on the Load Import Map button at the bottom of the import screen.
5-Select "DateBook Pro Import Map" in the Import Maps folder.
6-Review. The lower portion of the import window shows the original fields in DateBook Pro and the new fields they map to in Full Contact. If fields do not map correctly, then select the item in the lower window and click Remove. The field will appear in the upper left window without the word "mapped". Click on the field in the left window, select a corresponding field on the right and click Map.
7-If all fields map click OK.
COMMENTS: Done and Not Done are mapped to User defined field #1 for each activity. Full Contact uses a checkbox to denote Done. Use a filter to find all the activities where User Defined #1 starts with "Done". Then click the Done checkbox (so it shows an X) and delete the word "Done" from User Defined #1. See "Filtering a SuperList" on page 3-14 and "Find and Replace" on page 3-5 of the User's Guide. Since DateBook has two types of activities, To Dos and Events, these are mapped to the Type field in Full Contact. DateBook has a category for events. This information is mapped to the Action field. The recurring event explanation is mapped to an attached note titled, "Explanation".
2-Choose Tab delimited format with Return as the record delimiter.
3-Select all fields to be exported in the same order as they are presented in TouchBase's export list. (WARNING: TouchBase exports Returns within its notes. If you have any Returns in your notes, you will get incomplete notes and errors in your imports. To avoid this problem, export all of your TouchBase fields, except notes. You can also import your TouchBase export file into a spreadsheet program and clean up the notes. See page 15-4 of the Full Contact User's Guide for instructions.)
4-Export the file.

WARNING: The maps for importing DayMaker contacts have been designed to handle consistent telephone number placements. In other words, phone number 1 is assumed to be a "Work" phone number for ALL contacts. If phone number 1 and phone number 2, ... do not have the same definition for each contact you will have to go through a multi-pass import to get the information into Full Contact.
You will use the same file that you would export for DayMaker contacts as specified above.

These will be imported in subsequent passes. If fields do not map correctly, then select the item in the lower window and click Remove. 20-Repeat steps 14-17.
21-Remove the last two entries in the lower portion of the import window by clicking on the entry and clicking Remove. This unmaps those fields. In the upper left window, select the next phone label. Again in the left window, select the next phone number. In the right window, select the field called Phone Number. Click Map. In the lower window, the phone number should map to the Phone Number field.
22-Click OK.
23-Repeat steps 20 through 22 for each pair of labeled fields. There are seven labeled fields.
2-Choose Tab delimited format with Return as the record delimiter.
3-Select all fields to be exported in the same order as they are presented in ACT's export list.
4-Export the file.

Comments: The ACT! Import Map was based on the Sample File that comes with the application. There is a very high probability that your field definitions will vary from the original Symantec definitions. Therefore, we strongly urge you to read chapter 15 of the User's Guide and review the mapping scheme we've provided.
